We just found out that the job we were going to stay in the states for is not going to happen. This has been the strangest working season. We thought we were going to work until March then thru this summer and now it seems we will be leaving in January. Go figure. Things can always change but that seems most likely at the moment. I am excited about Christmas, all the kids will be coming to the lake either Christmas or the next week. I want to spend time with my mom and brother and then we are out of here!!
That is the plan for today….lol.

This weekend we join our friends Katie and Dean from “Our Way Too” at Portofino Marina for a potluck dinner and an evening of watching the 50th Annual Kemah Christmas Boat Parade. I grew up in the Kemah area (Texas City to be exact) and I hate to admit I had never gone to the Christmas Boat Parade. It was delightful and if you were not in the Christmas Spirit at the beginning of the evening you had to be by the end of the Parade.
These photo’s do not do justice. I was having trouble getting good, clear shots. Operator error I am sure.

We enjoyed a visit from Katie and Dean from s/v Our Way Too and “the kids”, Matt and Christie formerly from s/v Kaleo. Matt and Christie are charter members of the “Texas Navy”. Kaleo sold this week. “The kids” are adjusting to land life but I know their cruising days are not over. Katie just moved aboard their 42′ Hunter Passage. They are planning to start their adventure in the not to distance future. We ate well, watched old cruising photo’s and played Mexican Train.
We will be joining Katie and Dean this weekend on “Our Way Too” for the Kemah Christmas Boat Parade. We will leave the lake tomorrow for our rented condo in Kemah. It looks like Rusty’s next job will not start until January

We have a new page on Facebook, Sitton On The Beach. I have created a link on this website so you have easy access. You can see on the side column. I have started making albums of our last two cruising seasons. Most of the albums are arrange by location. I felt it was an easy way to see some sites you might want to go to without having to scroll through our previous blog. I have also created a link to our old blog which is also located on the side column of this website. Right now the old website is just a journal of our day to day exploits but I hope to organize it in the future so you can find specific locations or subjects……the operative word here is “in the future.” I am having fun learning WordPress but it is challenging for a techie wanna be like me.
On a personal note:
We are still at the lake waiting for Rusty to get “the call” that his next job is starting. We are not sadden for this lovely respite. We are enjoying relaxing, sleeping in, staying up late, overdosing on computers and TV.

I had an iphone before we started cruising and I have really miss it when we are in the states. It just didn’t make economic sense to pay monthly fees while we are gone. I love my ipad and I would love to have an iphone so… I called and talked with at&t. I was referred to Customer Care where the first person told me they could suspend my service for $10.00 a month up to six months a year. Great. I have learned however, to double check. I called back and talked with someone else who apparently has been with the company longer and she said, yes they can suspend service but you have to have had service for 6 months. Well, since we are probably leaving in March that wouldn’t work for me for this year (unless I can work something out with E…:) )
I thought I would pass this info on to other cruiser/travelers.

We are making major changes to the website. Our son, Stuart, had set up our webpage using Frontpage initially. Frontpage was way to complicated for me to use plus I really wanted to use my Mac. When are changing to WordPress and having a new host. It has been challenging but I must say that the support for Go Daddy and Host Gator has been very patience. I think if we did not want to preserve the existing data on SittonOnTheBeach.com it would have been a breeze. Wordpress is free but I did purchase a “CrashCourse” that seems to filter out all the whistle and bells so I can just get the basic’s down. I am hopeful that we can have the “new and improved” website up and running in a few days with small improvements occurring over time. Wish me luck. I am not a techie but I am trying…..:)
